Abandon is a little town in Colorado Mountains where in 1893 the whole population of people disappeared during one Christmas night

In present times a group of hikers consisting of a couple of guides, a married couple interested in paranormal photography and an estranged father and daughter trying to rebuild their relationship, make the way to abandon to try and discover it secrets and find out what really happened to the people.

Things  take a sinister turn when some of the group are being attacked and some are not who they said they were and have hidden motives for coming to the ghost town.

Thanks to the dual timeline we learn what really happened in 1893 while the events of the presentday unfold.

My favourite part of the book was the part when Abigail and Lawrence get trapped in a cave and are looking for a way out.  Also,, winter setting which I love :)

The end of the book felt rushed with a lot of possible events brining skipped. At one point we went form A to C and it just felt underwhelming.
The thrill factor wasn’t as present as I would wish from a thriller and even though this book had a good potential,  to me it is only “ a book that I have read”
Not a complete waste of time but I’ve read better.

A fast-paced thriller from Blake Crouch, what else do you need to know?

Really not for me. Couldn’t get into it, incredibly bleak but my main thing is definitely don’t read if descriptions of child death  (from a multitude of ways) is a sensitive topic for you.

FUCK men and FUCK capitalism!

Took me multiple tries to get into this because the audiobook narrator is bland as hell, but this time I persevered! This is a dual timeline thriller that explores what happened to a ye olde ghost town named Abandon. Basically every man is fucking awful and we get to see how gold drives some people insane. It was bleak as hell.

3.5 stars. I'm knocking it down from 4 stars not because of the shite narrator (which is not the author's fault) but because at one point Blake Crouch refers to a woman's WAP as "swampy" and he must pay for his crimes LMAO

Don’t read this book if it’s mid winter, dark or you’re feeling miserable, death is all around from start to finish. It’s not actually a bad book looking back but it’s not one to lighten your mood!
