What a ride! What happens when you say yes to an old college friend coming to stay with you and your family? Mel and Abi have not spoken since Mel left college pregnant, 17 years ago. They are Facebook friends, so one day Abi reaches out to Mel and asks if she can stay with her while she visits Britain. Mel, at one time grateful to Abi, says yes and soon realizes that may be the biggest mistake she has made.

Okay, that is all I am going to say about the plot, and I already feel like that is too much. This novel is a bit predictable, and like a horror film I am yelling at the heroine to "open your eyes!!!". I also found one storyline a bit uncomfortable, but yet it was in a realistic flowed with the plot way. I was in for this book pretty much from the beginning. I was invested in Mel and how they was going to work out for her. As much I was not a fan of her and Abi, I was totally in it for the story. There isn't suspense in the sense of who and why but how and what is happening. I will also say I didn't like one aspect of the ending as it seemed too much but even with that I really enjoyed this crazy story.

I really disliked Mel and had a hard time understanding her lack of self-esteem, but I couldn't stop reading. In the end, it was good.

beginning was horribly slow. first two hundred pages i kept visiting the thought of not finishing it and shelving the book. however, the last two hundred or so pages were phenomenal. i enjoyed that the author offered something different than what is usually offered — two friends having a row, love spinning around something beyond a romantic affair between a man and a woman. for the twisted middle and ending, i’d give this a read.

When Mel hears that her university best friend is getting divorced, she invites her for an open ended visit. It wont take long (but it kind of does) for Mel to regret inviting Abi back into her life.

I found this book to be long and painfully predictable.
Not in a ... "ohh I hope this happens",more of a ... "UGH I bet THIS is going to happen."
The characters did not pull me in... they frustrated me and were not likable.
The plot was ok, but as I said predictable.

With so many books in this genre it can be tough to stand out and I'm afraid this book did not.
Unfortunately in a few weeks I will probably forget all about it.
I think if the book had been shorter, I would have enjoyed it more.

It was “ok”. I found the characters lacked depth and the story line was fairly predictable. The relationship between the two women was cringeworthy and the writing style was simple and full of cliches. This a my first book by this author and I don’t think I will seek out others.

Probably go for a 3.9/4 star. Lots of plot twists and got very good towards the end!! Just a bit of a slow start. Still worth the read for sure!
