A different concept than most of my reads that kept me intrigued because I never really knew where the story was heading. I missed some things in the beginning that made SO much sense once I got to the end, but it was fun to try to unravel what was truly happening. While there’s a general plot point, the main story follows the MC and her journey through her work and how it is influenced by the company she keeps and the experiences shared with them. What kept me most interested is how the narrators voice altered in language and style as the company and experiences changed as well.

Spoiler If the main story is about the author describing her experience with schizophrenia, then it leaves a bad taste in my mouth because while it doesn’t overtly have discriminatory language, it does portray people with schizophrenia as having violent tendencies and being unpredictable which contributes harmfully to the stigma surrounding mental illnesses

An absolutely wild ride. Knocked off a quarter star for some slurs I didn’t love.

İt's confusing as all hell.

İ know some people really enjoyed that but İ didn't find the characters likeable or interesting enough to enjoy it myself. Awad is an excellent writer and i enjoyed the structure or ~the body~ ;) but the plot was a bit hard to follow. That may be because İ listened to the audiobook though, so İ think I'd rate the book higher for paperback. The ending especially felt out of nowhere even though it did have sufficient lead up? İdk it's worth a try if you're into funky stuff but definitely need to be in the mood for it and i highly suggest a physical copy instead of audiobook.

İ wouldn't say it's scary but it's got horror elements so if you're sensitive to that beware.

Bunny's narrative carries you along effortlessly, blending realities at every turn. The dialogue is used really effectively to distinguish

characters' voices. Mona Awad's writing is beautiful and somehow immersive and disorienting at the same time.

Really disappointed after loving All's Well so much. Bunny had the same nightmarish disorientation quality that I loved and Mona Awad does so well, but I kept getting kicked out of the story by the casually dropped racial slurs and ableist langage (ex.,
Spoiler ableist language - the r word, using schizophrenic as a derogatory joke; racial slurs - the g word several times
) that didn’t do anything for character or plot development. Especially in a novel that has racial elements and white privilege as a theme (the Bunnies embody entitled rich white lady-ness to a high degree), why choose to sling these around if not just to sound…edgy I guess? I have no idea why this was done and I’m afraid there’s no good reason at all.

I did have a lot of fun reading this book. I love horror, I liked the way the narrator would slip in and out of thoughts & conversations.

It was a little milquetoast in its character representation & ending. Like yeah of course they’re all white and of course they’re all thin and of course the outcast is a little alternative. Really disappointed with the use of the R word & ableism & fatphobia throughout the book.

SpoilerThe ending was also lazy. Ha-ha the villains are broken and that’s their comeuppance? Broken limbs? There could have been so many more twists and turns but it was really like the one graphic thing that happened and everything else was the come down. I didn’t need all that info on how she was just laying in bed and the different ways in which she was laying in bed lmao.
