“Be slow with your fists
But fight for things that matter.”

I spoke too soon, this is my new favorite from the series!
The storyline is actually pretty interesting with a slight mystery of finding an assassin whose trying to eliminate Riona and Raylan comes to the rescue as a 24/7 bodyguard…!
I also like the change of scenery closer to nature with Raylan’s ranch instead of playing around Chicago city.

Riona reminds me of Nesta, I wasn’t a huge fan of her in the beginning but this book changes the way I see Riona. There’s a reason to her cold demeanour, she actually feels more than she let on.
I absolutely adore Raylan (he reminds me of Cassian) - he’s flirty, chatty but also a sweetheart which really annoyed Riona but he’s transforms to something hot and wild when he enter the bedroom….
Despite how different they seem, they actually fit in together like puzzle pieces.

Overall, this book is a great addition to the series that comes with a satisfying ending!
Fans of enemies-to-lovers and bodyguard romance definitely need to try reading this book!

I received an advanced review copy for free through Netgalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Huge thank you to the author and publisher!

this book surprised me simply because i very much dislike the south and everything about it, not to mention raylan’s name is quite ridiculous. for the sake of the love story, and how i saw a little of myself in riona, i was able to look past it. i had two guesses for who was stealing, and i knew one had to be right in the end (i was). dante & simone’s wedding was such a sweet little addition to this book, and i absolutely love them together. i cannot wait to read the next one! the one thing i really hope does not happen for riona and raylan in the future is a pregnancy. she was so adamant about not wanting kids or to be married and i hope the gets what she wanted by the end of this series. if she willingly changes her mind, i will be all for it, but if she’s convinced or forced, i will be extremely disappointed.

This book has the same plot line as the book before. A little boring at time, but I liked the ranch scenes.

i’m pretty disappointed i just really thought i’d like it more from the build up in the last book but i ended up barely caring about the MCs. i did like the side plot a lot and i KNEW
uncle oran was sus before they left for raylan’s ranch
so it was a satisfying reveal. beyond that this was a chore to get through and it’s making me dread the last book.

i didn’t like the way riona’s character was dealt with either - the fact that
she ended up moving to tennessee for him and abandoning the job she’d grafted so hard for
felt like the opposite of a happy ever after. dante joking about
her changing her mind about wanting kids
left a bad taste in my mouth too.

beyond that their relationship didn’t really feel believable or click with me so i just wasn’t invested in them in the slightest i actually would’ve preferred for
them to have stayed broken up
if i’m honest i would’ve been more satisfied had it ended that way.

I enjoyed this book but obviously the usual i got a little anxiety but this book was different it felt less tense than the last one’s for me and it actually felt more how do i put it it felt more genuine i mean the description of the feelings in this book were so cute you get allot of emotion in this book and its more happy then sad plus I've never read a book with a country boy/girl main character so that was new for me and i enjoyed it i honestly enjoyed this book more than i thought i would i knew i would like it but i didn't know i would really enjoy it like i did i do still favor Stolen heir out of all of them so far and in the book i was so happy for the ending were you see all the other couples and parents and familys from the previous books in the brutal birthrights series i got the illustrations edition and i loved that family picture of the Griffins and Gallos in the beginning that was cute overall i rated this book 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the strongest Brutal Birthright book so far! I loved Riona and Raylan. They have great banter with their grumpy sunshine vibes in the midst of a mafia/bodyguard romance. I loved the complexities of Riona and the sweetness of Raylan they balanced each other out so well. This is perfect for fans of small town cowboy romances but with a side of action. I definitely recommend this book!

Broken Vow is the 5th book in the Brutal Birthright series. It focuses on the oldest Griffin daughter Riona. In the beginning of the story someone sends a assassin to take out Riona while she’s doing laps in her condo’s pool. She stabs the attacker with one of her hair pins and manages to get away. Callum her brother and Dante Gallo her brother in law come over after she calls them. They investigate who it could of been by watching the security footage of the attack. Riona goes to her parents house for a bit. Dante calls his friend and old army buddy Raylan Boone to help guard her. She’s very resistant to having a bodyguard anyway but specifically Raylan, since they got off on the wrong foot when they met briefly in the previous book. After another attack later on (where her condo was set on fire), Raylan takes her to his family’s ranch in Tennessee, to help keep her safe.

Once she’s there, Riona surprises herself with how much she comes to likes certain aspects of the ranch and Raylan. They grow closer.  The assassin manages to find out where she is at the ranch but ends up dead.  Riona goes back to Chicago thinking that the threat was eliminated, not realizing that her Uncle and mentor was the one who hired the assassin. Her Uncle Oran also had framed her coworker so that it looked like he had taken a large amount of money from the South Shore project when it was in fact him. He was mad because he thought that the Griffin empire should have been his since he’s the oldest brother (he and Fergus have different mothers). After Riona figures all this out and confronts him at his office Oran forces her to take a bottle of pills to make it look like a suicide. Before passing out completely, she manages to shoot him. Raylan goes back to Chicago determined to tell Riona how he feels about her. He goes to her office building and discovers her passed out on the floor and Oran lying dead on the carpet.  He takes her to the hospital where they pump her stomach. She stays in the hospital for 3 days recovering. Afterward they talk to each other about the fact they love each other, and Riona surprises Raylan by telling him she bought a office in Knoxville. She wants to start her own law firm there. Now he can be close to his family’s ranch also. The book ends with Dante and Simone Solomon getting married. A sexy fun read!

I really liked this one. Usually I feel like romance series end up falling into the same patterns a couple books in, but all of these books have felt different from each other. I really appreciate how the ending was handled…
how Riona still kept her career and still doesn’t want kids. I was afraid she was going to end up pregnant or give up her life completely to be with him.

Im interested to see where this next one goes since its been built up to since book 1.
