LOVED LOVED LOVED this book!! It was so original and REAL. LOVE The Lillys and all the band members. The love story was so real it was piercing, you could literally feel the ache. Really just a wonderful book from start to finish. READ IT.

I have been reading "Rock and Roll Romance" since junior high school. I am not big on romance stories, but I will make an exception if it is stories of relationships with a musical backdrop. Especially if it serves me both road to stardom and relationships (friend, familial, and love). I have seen a rash of these books pop up as a trend after Jenkins-Reid's "Daisy Jones and the Six", and trust me, I am here for it. However, this didn't serve any of that for me. The story was just incredibly long-winded and ended up where everyone knew it would end up. There were no real amazing revelations, no one character was so developed that you could invest yourself in them. It ended up reminding me of that person that is trying to tell you the story of why they were late, and it takes 40 minutes to tell you what they could have told you in one sentence, that they just got lost.

I would often read other readers’ positive comments about the book when I was in the first half because of how incredibly slow it was. But I had a feeling I’d need to stick it out until the end, and I’m glad that I did. Toni is such a rock star and it’s been fun to watch her shine. Sebastian is definitely a cliche, but he a Toni have really good chemistry. The book could’ve been shaved down 100 pages, and the writing was weak in some spots. But overall this was a fun, music filled read!

So good! The writing style made everything seem so real and the author obviously has a lot of knowledge about the music scene.

A lot of guitar and music talk (more than I needed). Seb’s reason for leaving was a little too easily forgiven by Toni, and I thought her parent issues were never really addressed. Ok story, but not enough depth about backstories. Everything about Candi was annoying.
