This legendary work, the earliest novel that still exists, offers an illuminating glimpse into the long-gone world of Japan over a thousand years ago. Although Lord Genji's way of life may be quite different to our own, the emotions recorded by Lady Murasaki's pen still resonate in the twenty-first century. Highly recommended for lovers of memoir, history, and poetry.
