I loved this series. I listened to both on Chirp. Highly recommend listening to them. The audio book made it come alive. Excellent series.

I really loved this duology, and I think Ifueko's world and voice soar between these two. I adore the themes of strugfle reflected in Tarisai's psyche and journey - I think my only criticisms were that these needed to be longer, another book at least! There's so much to dive into, even just starting with Tarisai's council siblings, especially after adding 12 more. And the finale felt very rushed, with pacing issues after a drawn out intro and alagbatos that felt a little tossed aside at the end. Overall though, a world and characters I wholly fell in love with and just wish I had more of!

Loved this one too! I don't know whether I'm glad it was a duology so I could find out what happened sooner, or if I'm sad because that means it ended sooner. The characters, themes, plot, and world-building in these books were just so good

This isn't terrible, but I like the first one better. This one is a little political and angst.

Redemptor, the sequel to Raybearer, features Tarisai the 17 year old empress trying and struggling to make peace in her kingdom. Tarisai is such a relatable character struggling with her feelings and self doubt, but overall sticking to what she believes. The ending is so satisfying. This is perfect for fans of Raybearer, as the sequel definitely doesn't disappoint.
