the story was cute, but every minority character seemed like they were just added for the sake of having minority characters and didn't have much personality beyond stereotypes.
also the fmc made making the mmc jealous/horny her top priority(once over her own comfort/safety)

I guess you could call this book polarizing based on the five star vs. one star and DNFs I see here in the reviews. I love a good texting romance but this one is just blah. I really bristled at all the body shaming, gay slut shaming and unnecessary jibes at character appearance. Those really were not necessary and made the entire read feel very petty. Of all the things I did not like in this book, the one that really sticks with me is how a "caterer" with the sometime help of her black friend (we get that shoved in our faces a few pages in) manages to run a business. There's no kitchen drama. You rarely see her cooking anything, yet always arrives with a van load of food for events. This is a huge black hole in the plot. You can't have someone be defined by their job and never actually see them do the job aside from standing around or gathering dishes. It's like saying someone is a NASCAR driver and all you see them do is pop the trunk. I just started the second book in this series and am on the edge of a DNF. Not holding my breath.

This book is fine. I just wish it was more developed as to why he loved her. I didn’t understand what about her he was so attracted to. She was a bit of a hot mess.

Let’s start with Noel. I liked his character. He had a sense of humor that I just appreciated, sarcastic, witty, and a little quirky. He was also a romantic. Granted he was kind of an idiot thinking he couldn’t have a successful career and a relationship but Aimee did set him straight there. My favorite part of the book was the ending. I was actually kind of bored and irritated at Aimee through most of the book but Noel’s sense of romance got to me in the end which brought up the rating for me. I mean he was willing to let the woman he loved go if that’s what she really wanted but “if there’s ever anything she needs, I’ll be there for her. Anything at all. I just want her to be happy, even if I can’t be part of that.” And his big romantic scene was funny and sweet. Overall I did enjoy Noel.
Then there’s Aimee. I just could not get behind this character. She bothered me. There were a couple of reasons. First she “loved” Noel WAAAYYYYY to fast. I mean she literally went from hating him and texting Noel (pretending to be Byron) that he was a jerk and a horrible person. She goes to the office has 1 dinner with him where she gets plastered and all of a sudden she loves him. Dramatic much?!!! I mean seriously she goes on and on and on about being utterly heartbroken. It was literally 1 day in which they got along and he tells her he just doesn’t have room in his life to date. One freaking day! Which leads me to the other issue I have with Aimee. She was so needy and whiny. I wanted to slap her several times during the story and tell her to shut up all ready. Hence the lower review. Noel and his romanticism saved the book for me. Aimee just made me want to throw it.

I didn’t love it. Didn’t hate it. Just a read for something that wasn’t dark like the previous series I read.
