the backstory specifically given to reyes feels kinda racist and needlessly over the top. but all the characters in these books have traumatic and convoluted backstories for the sake of drama 🤷♀️

Wow this was much more emotional with some on-page abuse. Both of their stories are very difficult. The other people feature much more in this book, giving it a stronger family vibe the author has clearly been going for since the beginning.
