This was really a terrible time to read this book, in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak.
But it was a sweet tale of seemingly hapless Brits finding their way together after becoming homeless. I guess I thought this was going to be uplifting, about resiliency, and it WAS, in a way, but also not really all that reassuring, as it was only through good fortune that they were able to change their circumstances.
She kept saying she was 50, and people kept describing them as old, and that was a real disconnect--50 shouldn't be so old! I googled and saw a photo of the author and she doesn't even look all that old.

For some reason I thought this would be a good book to read on holiday in Venice? It is very depressing, or at least starts off so. So I will definitely still read it, just when I’m in a better mindset.

Fantastic - this was so inspirational.
So real and well written, I really felt like I was on this journey with the writer and her husband.
