I picked up this audiobook because I missed Avi Roque’s voice after finishing Cemetery Boys. I did not expect how many tough issues Gael would be dealing with. I really loved how Gael’s thoughts and feelings were explained, even if the way he acted sometimes really frustrated me (but then I remember that he’s a teenager and that is to be expected).
Graphic: Mental illness, Transphobia, Grief, Suicide attempt, Abandonment, and Dysphoria
Moderate: Bullying, Homophobia, Infidelity, Panic attacks/disorders, and Outing
Minor: Cursing and Suicidal thoughts

I loved this book! The pacing is good, great narration (audiobook), the characters all make sense and feel like their own people. Sometimes in books like this characters end up doing things that don't feel like it fits with their personalities, but you don't get that here. There's a lot of consistency which I enjoyed.
