I was not expecting this cute comic about kids playing D&D to make me cry haha. I just found Jess's vulnerability with their friends and family and the ease of their acceptance so heartwarming. That's how things should be. The drama at the middle school dance had me reflecting on all the dances I went to as a kid. It felt so nerve-wracking at the time but now it has that lense of nostalgia. D&D definitely gave me a chance to explore myself as well, and I've found that same love for world building that Olivia has as a Dungeon Master. Ironically, I'm struggling with my own campaign, and her friends guiding her along has given me some inspiration lol. The art is gorgeous and Ostertag has yet again charmed me with her writing skill. I was a big fan of The Girl from the Sea. Another thing I wanted to add is I had no idea this was part of a series when picking it up at the library, but I needed zero context of the previous book to understand what was going on. Fabulously done! This is how series should be.
