Eight lives is a sweet story about a cursed cat, Edmund, and his Vampire friend
Anselm.

Anselm saved Edmund after he was cursed by a dark witch a hundred years ago. Now the curse is wearing off, and Edmund keeps shifting between man and cat. If he becomes a man, he can become Anselm's lover, but he'll have a human's lifespan. If he stays a cat, Anselm will never be alone.

This didn't feel like a paranormal novel. Yes, there are vampires, werewolves, demons, curses and a city for all beings not human, but the book feels light and fluffy, cute even. The end closes with a sweet hea, but there's enough potential for another volume. Despite Anslem being the older of the two, and Edmund having a mere twenty years as a human, Edmund is the more emotionally mature party, making sure Anslem feeds himself. It's endearing.

4.5 stars!
What an unusual, unique and interesting story!
I was intrigued by the premise, held captive by the plot and its execution :)
Edmund is cursed to be a cat by a spurned witch. He lives with Anslelm, an ancient vampire. When Edmund unexpectedly switches back to human form, he and Anselm are surprised, so much so that they are forced to confront a few issues:
What does this mean for Edmund's mortality?
What to do with the growing feelings that have been about 100 years in the making?
What's next when one makes a deal with a demon?
Sadly, for me, only one of those questions is answered in this story which leads me to my burning question- when will the next book be out???!
I really enjoyed the dialogue between the characters - the MCs and the others had some funny/snarky lines.
I'm definitely hooked and will look for other books by the authors *while waiting for the next book*.

I requested an ARC and these are my own opinions.
