Very good, a bit much on the Mormon backstory in Utah, but better to tel it in present tense as a separate section of the book than to have a long-winded past tense account told by the captured criminal.

This was great! I have read two Sherlock Holmes collections previously so it was super cool to see how it all began. As usual, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's writing was fabulous. I loved seeing Holmes from Watsons perspective, but before he had gotten to know him, I found that so fascinating. As for the story, it was interesting and fast paced and it wasn't hard to follow at allĀ

Well that was... something.
4 stars for Sherlock + Watson
2 stars for the weird second half with the American Mormons
Like I get it was backstory but that second half was unnecessarily long and detailed. I could've gotten the gist of it in like one chapter, not half the story.
Otherwise, the story was really interesting!!! It took me a bit longer than expected because there were times where I'd read like two pages and then not remember a single thing from them, so I had to keep going back.
Sherlock was hilarious and interesting, and Watson doesn't have a lot of personality in this but he's not too boring.
It was most fun spotting the differences and similarities between this story and BBC's A Study in Pink episode of Sherlock. :)
