With this third book, the trilogy about Blackthorn & Grim comes to its conclusion. And it does so excellently.

In this third 'riddle' Blackthorn and Grim have to solve they are separated physically and get to spend barely any time together. This makes it much more difficult to compare notes and to bring the puzzle together.

When they do so in the end they have also learned more about themselves, who they are and who they want to be an what each other means to them.

nearly the strongest of the series if not for a rushed third act. overall, still a lovely end to the trilogy!

these books deal in equal doses of cosy irish fantasy and (rather fun to solve) mystery. there are fey machinations, consistently beautiful prose, and the most thoughtful depiction of two characters learning to live with the traumas they've endured. these books have come to mean a lot to me!
