This book was okay. I'm very torn about this story. The mystery was quite disappointing - it was essentially solved from one single clue that didn't make sense . It was also much darker than I was expecting for a middle grade novel and had some very disturbing themes.
But the non-mystery elements of the book were quite enjoyable. The book presented family and friendship conflicts well and discussed the difficulties that Minnie's gran faced when coming to the UK. I would love to read about Minnie's family and Nigerian heritage more in a contemporary book, but the mystery aspect in this story was not for me.

why would the dry cleaner put the Swift company name on the t-shirt? that's just stupid??But she was beginning to see that, for Gran, it wasn't only tea. It was a new life, a new country, new rules. If an old woman didn't know where to buy her favourite tea, that woman might well feel lost.

This book covered a lot of heavy and dark topics that I did not expect in a middlegrade novel.
But I did think that the overall plot and writing was excellent.
My main problem is that Minnie did not truly learn her lesson about how she was treating Sylvie. This will teach kids the wrong thing.
