This whole review contains spoilers. I have a lot of thoughts.

Lowen is boring, and the only reason I even know what her name is is because it’s similar to the last name of one of my favorite hockey players.

This book was deeply disturbing, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. I’ve read some really messed up things in my life, but Verity’s manuscript hit different. It made me sick to my stomach.

On a similar note, I’ve read a lot of filthy smut, but every bit of sex in this book (except for the scenes with Lowen and Jeremy) were so terribly cringey, and I wanted to skip every single one.

At first, I hated the writing style but was interested in the story. Then, I hated it but was too curious to DNF it. Then I loved the story but hated Verity. Now that I’m done reading, I don’t know how I feel about this book.

I don’t know if I believe the manuscript or the letter. I WANT to believe that no parent would think or do the things in the manuscript, but I think I believe that more than the letter🫣 Either way, like Lowen says at the end, Verity is a master manipulator.

Good book in terms of keeping you hooked, but I could not stand Lowen and Jeremy was WAY too perfect... And that bonus chapter is just so out of character for everyone involved?? Also kept wanting to go back to the parts of the book that were in Verity's  voice as she was much more compelling as a character, regardless of what you think of her. Also so much sex, it's like all these incredibly complex people can only think about one thing all the time?? Wack! Overall very thrilling read tho with the mystery I could not put it down, so mixed thoughts!

The plot twist is insane to what was building up in the story and currently has my heart forever and will always be a reread for me.
