Sherry Garland

4.42 AVERAGE

Read this in one sitting. Garland certainly did some research as she went into writing this book. The characters are sensitively drawn. Difficult topics are handled with language that allows readers to engage with them at the level of what they understand and know, while not sparring the truth of the history and realities of what youths have and still do experience.

The story drew me in. The ending was satisfying, if bittersweet. But how could be anything else, given the history.
