I knew nothing about this series prior to picking up this graphic novel. With these adaptations, I judge how successful it is by my desire to read the original version -- and in this case, I thought it was successful since I do want to read the novel now.
The art was okay--the lack of noses was a little off-putting-- but I think this graphic adaptation was able to include the most important scenes from the novel and was able to pace it well throughout. I also like that it's completed in one volume.
I do wish that Yen Press would figure out a better system for their word balloons; I have a feeling that they don't want to cover or obscure the art but it's really confusing when it's just a random curve line pointing in the general direction of the speaker. It doesn't seem as organic as when I'm reading a manga or regular comic and it jars the reading experience when I have to think about which line or bubble refers to whom.

I haven't read Beautiful Creatures the novel yet, so I felt like I missed a lot by jumping right to the graphic novel. It was a nice primer, though for when I do go to read the novel. It seems like a really interesting story but obviously with a graphic novel a lot of description and detail was left out.

It was okay it was like a slight mix of the movie and the book. It had the shortness of the movie but it stayed truer to the actual book. I felt like there wasn't enough content to this graphic novel tho
