Whew, this book is so so hard, and probably because it's so well-written. I think it's as close to poetry as prose comes. So much research, so much hurt, so much trauma. Incredible. Would read anything Marzano-Lesnevich wrote.

If child abuse is not good for you to read about, this is definitely a book to skip. The descriptions are extremely hard.

Despite this being billed as true crime, it's not really. It's the story of a murderer and the story of a woman and how their stories have common themes. It's kind of a story of humanity and its brokenness. 

This book was really well written. The author did a good job building up a sense of dread and she also did a good job making you wonder about things. For that I give it five stars. 

I will say, however, that there is a lot of speculation when it comes to some of the things about Ricky Langley which can be a little weird at times. Other than that though I highly recommend this book.

Damn. The Fact of a Body is an extremely powerful book about deeply disturbing and difficult topics. Marzano-Lesnevich's writing is so compelling and they weave the story together so incredibly well; each scene, each word, was so carefully chosen. I won't lie, this is not an easy book to read -- there is something horrible happening on seemingly every page. All I can say is that I loved and hated every second in almost equal measure.
