Rubbish. The book takes a trip to find the origin of a virus then finds a worse one that it quickly sweeps under the rug. All while promoting eugenics in a series targeted to young adults.

Going to try to return and write a review of this later, but cannot work up the metal energy at this time - much else going on in life, and worrying about a book as bad as this just because it is finally a conclusion to a series that interested me as a child is foolish. But, I would like to explain why I thought it was so bad so that others can understand, just - not right now.

I will say though that you should not pay money for this book, nor to this author. If you never have, look up his societal views, and choose whether you want to be fueling that. We can certainly separate the art from the artist, but to do so we must also learn to separate our consumption of their art from their profit and reputation-gain-by-sales-numbers. Get it through your library if you must try it, or honestly, by other means. Good books by problematic people I recommend buying one of and passing around a large group of friends, but in this case, the book is not worth that effort.

i was so thoroughly disappointed by this book, it isn't even funny. orson scott card was one of my favorite authors, until i found out who he was as a person. in an attempt for some nostalgic comfort, though, i checked this one out from the library as an audio book. the only star goes to the audio performance of the book, because as always, the narrators in this series are pretty spot on and i've enjoyed their readings throughout every one. however, everything about the story was ridiculous and showed how little effort or care went in to finalizing a series that i know so many people were invested in. it's really a shame.

OSC is just the best writer. I love the evolution of the story from the single hero to a community.

This was a really mid book. I feel like literally nothing happened, even though it was kinda long. I'm honestly just glad its over, the characters weren't engaging at all and I just stopped caring.

Such a great finale to the Ender series and the Shadow series!!! It’s been so long since the other books came out, and I’ve enjoyed the prequels that came out but this was what I really wanted!

Not really a necessary part of the story but it was still very enjoyable and tied in to the series nicely.

I'm happy to finally be done with this series (I read Ender's Game almost 20 years ago). There is some closure here, however, there's just not enough. This book lacks the strong characters, the ethical dilemmas, and the action of most of the other books in the Enderverse.
