Wow

I needed this book in this moment. Thank you. So many poignant thoughts about what it means to be a black woman with multiple identities and how they intersect and how they are distinct. The poetry about familial and intergenerational trauma really hit home. This is a book for our (black women) healing.

This collection was good, but I much preferred Salt by Nayyirah Waheed.

I don't know what to think about this...
There were some beautiful poems that i enjoyed but those weren't that many. I really wanted to like this and it started just fine but then it turned repetitive. The punctuation thing I admit i don't understand. I do.n't know. if it. is ju.s.t me. It probably is.

My Second Book

I’ve read two works by this author back to back and have enjoyed the prose significantly. A very powerful writer that takes the written word and adorns it beautifully.

Still poignant, but not as good as salt.
