Disappointing. You can tell that Megan was finished with Jessica's story but wanted a final conclusion.
SpoilerAll that happens in the story is this: Set three years later Marcus and Jessica are no longer together. After meeting at the airport accidently they talk for two hours. Having missed her flight they book a room together. In the end the sing Barry Manilow ( If you know the rest this will make sense) and get back together. That is the book summed up in a few sentences.

I disliked the third person narration and expected more because [b:Charmed Thirds|199688|Charmed Thirds (Jessica Darling, #3)|Megan McCafferty|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1320531924s/199688.jpg|2405344] was a really good book. This book just felt like a waste of my time and the conversation between Jessica and Marcus just drew on for what seemed like ever.

if you love something, let it go. if it comes back its yours...

started out a little slow for me.. but i loved the back and forth dialogue between marcus and jessica. i got annoyed by the whole restoring new orleans part because that storyline is played out and im tired of it (& i lived there throughout the hurricane by the way) but i didnt mind the part about The Queen. kinda crazy how that all worked out. im glad they both finally figured out that they needed to be together..

I finished Fourth Comings several years ago, and I had /no/ idea that there was a fifth book until now. Frankly, I don't know what to feel about PF. On one hand...I loved Fourth Comings (and the ending!), on the other, my happyendingsarethebest heart can't help but warm up to the idea of Jessica and Marcus coming together all these years later. BUT, that doesn't change the fact that the book felt...really abrupt and unnecessary to me. I'm all for a different Marcus and happilyeverafters, but the way McCafferty executed it...it just wasn't done very well.

In Fourth Comings, I get a sense of why Jessica does what she does, and I can appreciate her growth and the decision that was a result. In comparison, PF feels rushed, and I don't really get why/how Marcus changed. I would've preferred it if McCafferty had kept the POV in Jessica's first person style, because the Marcus I found in PF wasn't the Marcus I was expecting at all--and not in a good way. In fact, he just read like a rehashed version of Jessica. After going through four books expounding on how Marcus' mind is so weird, twisted, how he's such a genius and just /odd/, it was a big disappointment to go into his head and find out that he's actually none of those things...

There were also WAY too many pages of the transcript.

(Basically, to summarize from a conversation with my friend:

"It was bad...then good, then bad, then really good, then really bad, then abrupt.
And then...good-bad?" )

the fifth book in the jessica darling series is like a gift from megan mccafferty to all of the series' fans. and, in my humble opinion, the perfect closer. of course i said the same thing about the fourth book in the series when i thought that was the last one.it just goes to show how much i love megan mccafferty.

at first i was taken aback by not being inside jessica's head. it's strange to hear her described from marcus' point of view, but also nice: a way to get to know this character better.

librarian perspective: we keep the first four of the series in teen fiction, so i put the 5th there as well- didn't want to split things up. now that i've read it i'm not sure about this decision- jessica and marcus are in their mid-twenties, it's a mature book- but have decided to wait and see if there are any complaints.

I liked this book, I felt it was the perfect conclusion to the Jessica Darling series! It was weird to finally read from both the Marcus and Jessica perspective, but it was a good change.

I liked this book and thought it was a nice conclusion to the series. it was crazy to see Jessica and Marcus at this point in their lives and how far they've come individually and together. I did enjoy their story, but it would have been nice to see more of the people in Jessica's life (even though I know the whole thing was more focused on her and Marcus). I also liked that we finally got into Marcus's head. His perspective was unique and really added to the back and forth of their relationship. I think the tone had also shifted in this one and it was a nice way to close out a fun coming of age story. This wasn't my favorite of the series, but I did enjoy it!
