Loved this one...lots of twists and turns. There were a few moments of sadness too (won't give spoilers). Really happy Eik is still around.

i love every louise rick novel i've read. this book was so good! sara blaedel does such a good job storytelling and character building. this was such a unique mystery as you knew some of what happened from the beginning, but it never felt boring or overdone! excellent writing, great mystery unfolding, well done ending. this was a short, good, well wrapped up mystery novel.

This flowed better for me than the first book I read by Sara Blaedel, The Forgotten Girls. Maybe it's because this book really feels like a continuation of The Forgotten Girls - I was already familiar with most of the characters and this wrapped up all of my unanswered questions from The Forgotten Girls.

Sara Blædel is a pleasant surprise for all those who love thrillers and are tired of the obvious plots.
Sune is a 15 year old boy, with a tender heart, who yearns to become part of the brotherhood his father, and his father before him, are a part of. However, in his quest to make his father proud of him, Sune witnesses something that sets something terrible in motion. Will he survive the brotherhood?
With Sune's disappearance, Louise Rick finds herself confronted, once more, with her dark past and all the questions left answered. Trying to make sense of everything while trying to find the missing boy, Louise finds herself almost giving in to grief and rage.
The Forgotten Girls sets the mood for this book, but in no way does it prepare the reader for the intensity of the world revolving around Louise Rick's past and Sune's present. Blædel does a wonderful job at building the tension throughout the entire book, forcing the reader to create their own theories about what might be going on while trying to keep up with all the new information about both cases, which are so intertwined.
Sara Blædel definitely was not a disappointment for this thriller lover as she continues to write with such detail that the reader is able not only to imagine the scenery in detail, but is also able to feel like they're there themselves, living the story by Louise's side, as a mute and invisible observer. This book will keep you on the tip of your toes, unknowing of when some major clue will come up in the investigation or when some shocking event will take place.
