Loved this book so much! The narrator Dough definitely had me laughing with her sassy remarks and thoughts. The illuminati is definitely something I have never read about before but it was tackled in such a way that kept it mysterious but still light.

I don't understand the negative reviews on this book, I thought it was great. I actually laughed out loud several times! Gwen is a likeable character, and I went into this completely unaware of what it was about. I just thought it was a love story. Then the star power stuff happened and I thought it added a nice touch of paranormal to an otherwise great story.
A disclaimer: I grew up on a island off the coast of Jersey that sounded just like Gwen's, so I think I connected with the book right away.
Also, I think I might have tossed Wish into sea and kept Christian, but that is me.
The only reason this is not five stars is that Gwen's self depreciating manner got on my nerves after awhile. I get it, she's big, but Gwen thinks she is gross, and the reader gets to hear about it over and over again-even though it clearly is not how the rest of the characters (that matter) see her. I just wanted to give her a hug.
I can't wait to read more by Balog!

i just wish there was more to the end. Also this is the first time i read a story where the protagonist/ heroine is an overweight girl. It was interesting and i understood the moral Balog was going for, but it just didn't end right for me.

I started off this book loving it! I loved the main character of Gwen. She is sassy and totally hilarious. The things that she says and that go through her mind had me giggling to the point that my kids were looking at me weird!

For a moment, I thought that maybe Gwen and Christian would get together. They seemed more like a perfect match. They are both total outcasts and seemed to get along for the most part. I am not really sure what to say about Wish. I feel like I really never got to know the real character.

The book took a turn when the whole star reference came to play. I lost the humor in the main character and I felt like the story was rushed. Although, I lost a little interest, I did read the book all the way through. I liked the ending and thought that it was perfect.

This book was good and very easy to read, but there were a lot of hard things that the character went through that weren't discussed as bad or hurtful. There wasn't really a turn around for the character's self-esteem and little to no character growth. I did enjoy the story, but I wish that the concept of the Luminati was more the main focus and not our main character, Dough.
