I really enjoyed this! I wasn't familiar with her podcasting, and this book was recommended by a fellow English teacher and it was really compelling (and Zomorodi reads it herself!) I would highly recommend this as an audiobook, and I'm heavily considering at least some version of the bored and brilliant challenge with my AP Lang students next year. Very solid if you feel you are too dependent on your phone or if you're just interested in the science of creativity and attention.

Apa yang kamu lakukan ketika merasa bosan? Memainkan gim favoritmu, atau mungkin lari menuju ponselmu dan membuka X, TikTok, YouTube, atau aplikasi lainnya?

Yeah we get it, our phones are making us stupid (and worse! unproductive!). This isn't even a book about daydreaming, it's just a rehash of her podcast series where she told people to put down their phones for a while. I mean, credit where credit's due, getting paid to write a book with the exact same content people can access for free sure is... creative.

As a self help book, this actually didn't feel as preachy and demeaning as some can be.

I also loved the audiobook version which features an interview between the author and the inventory of the phone game she was addicted to.

I think this book is a great one if you're just getting into the idea of reducing your phone usage. However, I've been on this journey for several years now so have already learned a lot of what was spoken about hear.

I liked that the focus was on the idea of being bored and letting your mind wander but wanted even more of that than what I was given.

Sometimes it felt like sections were just collections of long quotes from many other sources without adding much.

If you liked this and want something to take your journey of regulating your phone usage further I'd suggest Cal Newport's "Digital Minimalism"

Meh! Did discover another book while reading this book that seems better on this topic.
