The story is well written.

The world building was done in a good way. As a reader you are sucked into the story and have no trouble following the plot. The history of the world , the shifters, the various characters and their role in the story is easily explained and believable.

Government assassin Andrea McNeilly kicked ass!

She was a tough, capable heroine.

She had many talents, knew how to take care of herself. She didn't let anyone push her around.

She stood her ground with Werewolf Alpha Wick from the start, and he was confident enough in his power to empower her.

I loved Andy's strength in dealing with much more powerful creatures than her, in her intelligence and resilience..

The blurb didn't really drag me in but after reading a little more about SHIFT HAPPENS on the web I decided to give it a shot. Andrea's position as a government agent/assassin puts her in a rough spot when an assignment doesn't go as planned and she is captured by a werewolf pack. The master vampire in charge of the werewolves tasks her with finding the truth about who is behind her assignment or else. The truth is not easy to come by and by the end of the story her life has been turned upside down, righted back up and then flopped on its side.

Andrea has not had it easy and we slowly learn about her past and who she really is as SHIFT HAPPENS evolves. I liked her right away, her character was real and easy to relate to. She was a good mix of bad ass and vulnerable. Wick is the alpha of his pack. Unfortunately his pack is controlled by a master vampire so he has no choice but to obey his commands. He knows right away that Andrea is his mate but the complicated situations keeps him from keeping her totally safe and her stubbornness keeps them apart for longer than he would like. I see a major love triangle in the next book. I don't really know how I feel about it at this point as I really like Wick and feel they work well together. The added complication doesn't interest me, but we will see what happens because I can't not read more.

Not only is the world well developed but the characters really brought the story home. Even though the story is told in Andrea's voice each and every secondary character makes an impact. That is not easy to do. The story as a whole had a great flow and kept me interested from start to finish. Book two BEAST COAST is already on my wishlist.

What a fun exciting book! I really enjoyed the twist to the paranormal world! These characters were badass, funny and sexy. Wick was my favorite, I love a strong silent type...aka sexy alpha! The writing was good and even though it had a cliffhanger, it wasn't a bad one at all!

The narration was fantastic! I seriously love Laurel Schroeder's work! I really hope she narrates book 2!

If you enjoy Werewolves, Vamps and more, you'll like this book!

Working for the government as an assassin, Andy has gotten used to only talking to her handler to get her next target. When her planned hit turns out badly, things go from bad to worse quickly when her handler ends up dead. The truth about who she has been working for the past two years is shocking to Andy, but nothing is more shocking than learning that one of her three inner animal spirits has found her mate. Never one to jump into anything too quickly, Andy is torn between listening to her inner wolf and listening to her own thoughts. Wanting the gorgeous werewolf Wick is not a problem her body is having, but when she learns that he is being controlled by a Master vampire, she doesn't want to get involved too deeply.
This is a fast paced book that is well written with lots of hot sexual tension between Andy and Wick. The only downside to me is that Andy never took advantage of Wick or his wickedly hot body.

The supernatural aspect of the book was interesting and I liked that Andy had multiple forms but she was a little dense as an MC. Trigger warning as this book contains details on a sexual assault that is not even given much wait. I didn't feel much for the secondary characters either.
