A könyv elolvasása után lennének kérdéseim az íróval kapcsolatban.

Mármint ugye abban mindannyian egyet értünk, hogy Mihály szerelmes volt Tamásba, ugye? Mármint narratívan nem lehetne ezt kevésbé tagolni. Ott van a körítésben. Főként a folyamatos tagadásban.

Más.

A karakterek. Hát azok... főkent a hölgyek. Na ők nagyon. Rasszizmust, szexizmust félretéve, igen vannak ilyen emberek és értem melyik karakter típust akarja melyik szereplő megtestesíteni.

Biztos vagyok benne, hogy jobban élvezném a könyvet analizálni, mint olvasni. Mert a metaforák és az üzenetek tényleg roppant érdekesek voltak.

Ez az első könyvem amit olvastam, amit a két világháború közötti időszakban írtak és milyen behatóan festi le az akkori időt.

Emellett már nem ideiglenes, de nagyon érdekes utazási irodalom is volt. Úgy mutatta be Olaszországot, hogy kedvem szottyadt visszamenni.

Maga a történet viszont nekem roppant mód az "egynek elment" kategóriába tartozott. Többet vártam tőle. Nem tudom pontosan mit, de mindenképp többet.

“Love eternally preserves one moment: the moment it was born; and the person one loves never ages, remaining for ever sixteen in the lover’s eyes, and the same breeze that blew back then, continues to ruffle her unkempt hair and light summer dress throughout a lifetime.”

This was a meandering, dream-like kind of book, with characters, places and memories appearing then dissipating once more. Intellectual discussions about art history and the death drive were woven into a tapestry of Italian cities, yet the true focus of the story was on the past. Can one ever escape a first love? Is nostalgia the enemy of adulthood? A beautiful - but not entirely unproblematic when it comes to race and gender - book.
