This book did not slump as sequels/middle books in trilogies usually do, it’s a wild ride & action/character-developmentally-packed, but I struggle to properly find words to describe my reading experience overall. I sometimes struggled to will myself to go on.

However, I will continue on and finish the series…. Because I need closure and I’m an insufferable completist😭 I also think this book could have been shorter (I am such a crybaby when it comes to books being longer than 500 pages hahaha it is 10000% a me problem & me being selfish).

The first half of the boom was good, really. But I just didn't have any energy or desire to continue. Which is such a shame because I loved both Babel and The Poppy War. But while The Poppy War hooked me and kept me entertained all the way through, reading the Dragon Republic felt like a chore. Maybe I'l start it again someday
