This was a binge-worthy read that I finished in a day. I was looking for something light as a palette cleanser in between heavier reads. This book delivered on that, yet it also delivered a surprising amount of emotional depth that added layers and complexity to an otherwise —perhaps— cliche coming-of-age novel.

There is a period in the novel where all of the characters feel so insufferable that I almost got too frustrated to keep reading, but the issues were resolved by the end of the book and it became clear why it was necessary to experience those conflicts alongside the characters. Overall, it was a fantastic read and I'm itching to read the next in the series!

The thing is… I ADORED this book but HATED it at the same time. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me slam my kindle down on my bed, it made me do all those things and more. But afterwards, even after these 3 MONTHS of coping with the ending of the series, I’m traumatized. The third book RUINED my favorite character, breaking my heart in the process; I’ve had BREAK DOWNS over it. Now, do what you want, but if you read this series you must be P.R.E.P.A.R.E.D for the gut wrenching, character breaking, tear making, stupid in the making, baking bacon, flippin’ tazing, ending!!

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to read this book. I’ve had it in my shelf forever. At the beginning of summer by friend/book dealer told me I HAD to read it this summer. Then when I found out the show was coming out, I made a mad dash to read it so I could follow up with the show.
It’s such a simple, straight forward story that is so addicting. The whole book literally feels like summer as a teenager. Like I felt like I was a teenager again reading the pages, living the moments. Starting the second book immediately.
