A powerful deconstruction of the bleak picture facing disabled people in the UK. Frances Ryan writes with a good balance of personal stories and statistical evidence, to bring to life the human impact of a decade of austerity. Particularly difficult to read knowing the pandemic will only have worsened the situation.

Learnt so much from this book about the truely horrifying impact of cuts on people with disabilities and their families. The mix of data, analysis and personal stories works really well. Sometimes a bit stats heavy and would like the statistics to be interrogated and explained more. Also small correction it said in the case of people with  disabilities then the definition of domestic abuse also includes family members, when in my experience abuse from family members is considered domestic abuse regardless of disability.
