An interesting meditation on life, time, love, desire, and happiness.

Was too distracted by the blurb's promise of a ghost romance to realize it was by Rachel Harrison, who I read before and really disliked. The writing is really grating on me with this (exception: the bit about the hearse) and the ending of Harrison's novel was what killed it for me so I don't imagine continuing on will fix things. DNF it is.

Masterful storytelling by Rachel Harrison! One of my favorite authors, Harrison excels at ambiance and character-craft. Her dialogue is a true strength in all her works, as is setting and character motivation, and this tale is no exception. I greatly enjoyed the skill that went into this story!

I loved "The Veil," with its strong feminist ending and its believable characters. It's the perfect bite-sized snack of a story and yet there's so much character development.

The narration for the audiobook is well-paced and enjoyable and the narrator does a great job conveying emotion during the reading.

This story is like cheesecake or potato soup. It's comfort food for my brain. I plan to come back to revisit it again and again.

5 stars! Highly, highly recommend!
