What a fascinating concept and I think Malcolm Glad well handles it pretty well overall. It was really hard not to compare this to Daniel Kahneman's Thinking, Fast and Slow; I think Kahneman's work was far more technical and in-depth, where this was more superficial but accessible.

I love that Gladwell started with the Getty Kouros and John Gottman! I also like how he ended with the changes in symphonies across Europe and the US. I think he handled the section about the murder in the Bronx really well but I wonder if or how much his views on autism have changed since this book was initially published. I wonder if he's basically or generally accurate but it seemed rather insensitive through a 2023 lens (which is its own set of problems, I know).

I read this for the book club at work and totally plan to host a cola triangle test for the company Christmas party now, so I'm glad I read this. I need to push Gladwell's other books further up my list now.

I liked everything except the parts where he just lists facial muscles.

A little dated but a great and relevant theme!

The way Gladwell handles the subject in ‘Blink’, makes me appreciate Kahneman’s ‘Thinking, Fast and Slow’ a whole lot more. Fun read but a very superficial take on the matter. Pop-science-y without the research or gravitas for the subject this complex.

Feels like something that didn’t reallllyyyyy need to be written. I mean the overarching point is interesting and all but doesn’t really feel that groundbreaking. I feel like most people already understand the significance of acting on instinct and impulse.
As per with Gladwell it is very well researched. However the examples used to flesh out his points feel somewhat lacklustre when compared to his other works. Overall I would say take a jab at his other stuff before this. If you’re like me and this is one of the only books you have available to you because your kindle won’t let you access you Amazon account outside of Australia then I suppose this will do.
