I was ready to give the book 5 ⭐️ until the end. It felt sudden. I would have been fine with even one more chapter to show what happened after the big reveal instead of a quick recap of 25 days chapter. 
The final paragraph made sense as the ending, I just wanted more information beforehand.

Really unique cross between the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale and pandemic, apocalyptic world. Alongside other great apocalyptic works though, this one is a little flat. I would have liked to go more into the background of the sickness infecting the world and also the reasons behind the “Alien”-esque monsters. Adam as a character is also INFURIATING and makes me think I’m reading from the perspective of young teenagers, not adults in their twenties. The “end of the world” plot is a little played out and predictable for me, but it was still enjoyable to read. 

The real beauty and strength of the book is in Red’s narrative which is very intense to read and very sad with its details of loss, distrust in humanity, racial violence, and ableism. I love how self-reliant and smart she is about the dangers in the world and doesn’t let having a prosthetic leg hold her back. Her observations are witty, and I like reading about other characters through her eyes.

This re-telling of Red Riding hood is a rollercoaster of a tale! Red is not the little defenseless child of the original story. She is a super bad ass. I really enjoyed the adventure - will she make it to Grandmas? You'll have to read to find out.

The author's sparse and straight to the point writing style was great for a dark retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. It was gorey without being over the top, and I enjoyed Red's character--her flaws were front and center, even if she could be harsh on herself, her family, and potential allies alike. 

I enjoyed the voice and the pacing--the story is more about Red and the kind of woman she becomes than it is about her getting to her grandmother's house. Despite the sheer amount of loss she suffers through, the book ends on a very hopeful note. I enjoyed the fact that Red's opening up to other people and allowing herself kindness ends up leading to her making it to her grandmother's house. I like that the author also keeps the plot in perspective--whatever is going on with the world isn't for Red to figure out. She just needs to get somewhere safe.

It's a very good but very dense and heavy book! Expect things like blood, stress, and anxiety throughout.

It is quite good, a very solid post-apocalyptic story. Reads rather interesting in view of crna pandemic, especially considering it was written before that. I do have issues with the whole "I won't do what government tell me to do in this emergency situation because I said so" (and also for plot convenience).  I would also want more reasoning as to why getting to grandma's house is the solution to survival, but it is a retelling of  Red Riding Hood, so whatever.
I should note a well balanced mix of Before and After chapters. Although the ending was rather abrupt. At one moment I thought that the author would give an open ending, without Red getting to the cabin. And that would have enrage me as a reader, but I would understand it.

And one final thing. You're a gal walking through the woods across the country, trying to avoid people. Would you wear a RED HOODIE? Neither would I.

But in general I enjoyed this book quite a lot.
