I do love Louise Penny's charming and compelling books! The fourth one in the series was my favorite so far, so this one was a bit disappointing in comparison; I still enjoyed it though! I will continue to work my way through this series.

Overall I enjoyed this book, liked the characters and the setting, but once again - as it is an audiobook, I had a hard time listening to it and had to listen to some of the chapters twice as my mind wandered and I fell asleep a couple of times. That skews my review.

The one thing I found totally unsatisfying was the ending (and had to listen to it twice to actually reconcile who did it). I was hoping the author would not bring in a new character out of the blue and while she did not, the culprit of the murder was a bit unbelievable and unrealistic.

I probably won't go out of my way to read the sequel.

Great

It was a great read with so much history and development all throughout the book. Can't wait for the next one!

This instalment of the Gamache series did not suck me in as some of the past ones have, although elements of the story were beautiful. I was truly upset by the resolution, but only because I have grown to love the people of Three Pines so much over the past several books.

I enjoyed this a lot--more than any of the previous ones, even though I figured out who the killer was.

This started off a little slow for me, but once I was about halfway through I was so engrossed in the story that I stayed up at until almost 2am to figure out the ending.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- Loved It

"Well, I get pissed off and I don't kill people."

Spoiler: I love Louise Penny's gift for writing. Her mysteries are compelling. This one seemed extra dark though. I was bummed out that one of my most loved characters was the murderer. Poop! I feel like something real bad is brewing with Peter and Clara.

I didn't care much for fourth book in this series so it took me a bit to pick up another. This one, I'm pleased to say, resumed my faith! It is my favorite so far and I just sped through it.
