Overall I found this series entertaining. Something good must have kept me reading, right? However, I did find some of the plots disjointed throughout all the books. Another problem for me was the Alice/Jack relationship. I just could never believe in there relationship or wanted to. I found Peter's character much more compelling and felt his character should have been better developed. I wanted more Peter. And up until the end I kept hoping for a different ending concerning the love triangle. But even with its flaws I did enjoy reading these books.

Finally finished this one because we lost power and so I had no other distractions. I really enjoyed it and there was lots of action at the end.

I liked this one a lot. Alice wasn't as whiny (Jack was). She was pretty badass actually. For some reason I still really want her to be with Peter. He just seems like a better fit for her. Maybe cause they balance each other more.

(spoiler)

It really made me mad when Jack broke up with her. I think he was immature about the whole thing.

This series consistently improved as time went on and I really wound up enjoying it. Typically I'd say this series gets four stars, but I am giving it five stars for two reasons that really made me appreciate this author because what she did is rare unfortunately.

Reason One: The love story. Alice picked a man and stuck with it. Sure she had a few missteps but she made an appropriate choice and picked the man that was good for her. She didn't pick the dangerous or brooding guy. She picked the nice one with the good laugh and who loved her for everything she was, faults included. I thought it might go the other way, but in the end she did it. She picked the good guy, and that should happen so much more in books.

Reason Two: Alice is kick-ass. She had a lot of growing up to do, but she learned and she grew. She sorted her shit out and she did it without the help of a man (he supported her but he didn't choose her path and even when he freaked out she didn't beg and cry. She put him in his place). She was strong and fierce and just made me happy. I just really appreciated the growth and the fact that the author let her be her own person separate from her relationship.

Overall as a series it was pretty good, I had a fun time reading it. But I'd recommend it wholeheartedly for the reasons above. There needs to be more books that balance a great love story with the ability for the characters to be their own people outside of it. Kudos to Ms. Hocking for that.

This is the fourth book in the My Blood Approves series. Preceded by My Blood Approves Fate and Flutter. The last book ended with Jack and Alice heading forward in their relationship pretty strong Peter and Mae with Maes vampire child leaving Milo with his human boyfriend Bobby still being themselves and Ezra moping. Alice Milo and Bobby go to visit Mae in Australia but things dont go easily and it isnt as great a visit as expected. They get terrible news from home and leave early. When they arrive Alice is dealing with all the sudden realization of the decisions she made; like becoming a vampire being a vampire being with Jack and not being with Peter. She wants to live forever and is pretty certain that she wants to do it with Jack but she doesnt want to be a vampire. This book delves into the side of Alice where she is finally growing up. Her whole life shes been lazy and babyish. Now she has to learn to fend for herself and take responsibility for her actions. I hated Peter in the first book because he was a jerk but now I really feel sad for him. I hope there is another one where he can find someone to be happy with because leaving him alone sucks and I want Alice to stay with Jack.

I am giving this book 5 stars because it is a great book packed with action love loss mystery and suspense. I do want to point out that readers will face plenty of grammatical issues where words might be missing or there is two thes and thats. But its still an amazing book to read. It flows best though if you have the history from the first three books.
