I'm only 5% in so can't really judge yet, but it just didn't grab me, seemed kinda generic. Reading the reviews here, doesn't seem like it's for me anyway.

I am so glad that I read this story. It was a fantastic read. I found myself absorbed in the story right from the start and remained that way through out the whole read. The author’s writing flowed from page to page as we travelled with the characters through several adventures and life altering decisions.

A high fantasy tale based on Celtic themes, as such it has both spells and swordplay. That the armies are modest and the wizards human makes it fresh, as does the fact that the real focus are the relationships of the main characters across lifetimes, from injury and feud to eventual reconciliation. It's not an action packed yarn and can be quite confusing in first half with the lack of resolution in the situations difficult to tolerate. But it is really interesting and in the second half the threads start to pull together, leaving a contined feeling of merry old pre-England.
