Cute enough story. I was very surprised this takes place in GR/Ada, they drink my fave Michigan wine and reference GVSU, BUT that was not enough to overcome the transphobic moment. Who knows what the author intended, but when referencing 'crossdressers' and laughing about men buying heels and beautiful shoes to wear, I am extremely off put but the inherent transphobia. It was one small moment, but totally unnecessary and soured my taste for the book as a whole.

Did not enjoy this one. Tate? Yes. Rachel? Oh my god annoying. And she had such promise for her own book when she was a secondary character in book one of the series. Oh, well.

Please read book 1 & 3

Book 2 of the Three Little Words trio nearly had me DNF. I love Tate, but Rachel made me want to throat punch her & walk away. I was over their story by 1/3 in. The end was perfect tho.

Rachel has basically hit three strikes, you’re out. Cheating boyfriend (now gone), great job (now gone), and a mistaken one night stand with her best friend’s brother (great, but uh-oh). Then mix that in with a scared, protective woman and a irresistible, dry-tongued man and you’ve got yourself all the ingredients for one great story.

Rachel might be down on her luck, but she’s not the type to take it sitting down. She’s innovative and strong so she’s right back up after her knockdown. With the unexpected surprise after that amazing one-nighter, she’s now completely at a loss for what to do. Too stubborn to give in, but finding Tate too hard to resist, she’ll have to come to terms with her situation in ways she never thought possible; ways she never imagined she could handle. Tate is the level-headed lawyer. He’s smart, calm, and sweet. When he wakes up in bed with Rachel, instead of the panic he expected, he only felt relief. Relief that it was finally Rachel. As much as he wants something more, he’ll have to put on his running shoes for how much running away she’s doing.

Reading the blurb, I could tell right straight away that this book would be good. Best friend’s brother? Oh hell yes. One night stand with an unexpected consequence? Oh, yes please! The dynamic between Rachel and Tate was great. They had that witty banter between them that constantly pushed and pulled with their magnetic sexual tension. And the writing? Amazing. It was humorous, sarcastic, witty, and emotional. I think Rachel’s stubbornness was nailed perfectly and I saw myself a lot in her. It was so easy to dive into this story, be whisked away by the witty sarcasticness (that’s a word, I’m sure) of the writing, and fall in love with their tale. It was a beautiful story of a man conquering that Great Wall of China, otherwise known as the walls we women sometimes build (un)necessarily. It was touching, sweet, and fitting. While this is my first novel by Karla Sorensen, you can bet your bottom dollar it won’t be my last. Her writing is not one to be missed.

Quick Read

This was a quick read. Rachel and Tate. One night stand. Consequence of it. Rachel doesn’t want to be like her mom, so when she feels something is out of her control, she shuts it down. Tate has no clue why Rachel does some of the things she does, but he likes how she makes him feel and how he acts.

DNF @ 42%. Three FMC is irrational and intolerable and I have no idea why the MMC is suddenly ready to marry her after an ONS.

Definitely an author I’m not going to be reading again. Her writing doesn’t stand out and the story was one to kill time.
