This book is beloved by many, but I think was just not for me. I love the trope marriage of convenience, so thought it was right up my alley. Unfortunately, I found the difference between the thoughts of the heroine and her actions too wide a gap. While I definitely agree that different people feel and respond to things differently, the drastically unfeeling way she comported herself at all times felt too much at odds with the emotional dialogue in her own mind. (Perhaps this is one to try in the future when I'm in a different mood.) I got to Loc 1067/ 31%

DNF at 60%.

I couldn't get invested in the characters and it was just like sad but not in a way that was still cathartic to read. Also I don't want to read a depressing Christmas book...

(This is my first read for the Oh What Fun readathon!)

One of my favourite romance tropes are enemies to lovers and sometimes arranged marriages if it's done right. And that's why I chose to read this book....

It wasn't what I expected. It wasn't really that sweet and sometimes really shocking (in a bad way). I mean I love it when a book is unpredictable and it surprises me but not this time mate, I really wanted it to be what I imagined it to be.

The plot was great, the Christmas setting was lovely but as much as I rooted for Eleanor and Randolph, they frustrated me because of their assumptions and lack of honest communication. However, there where some nice scenes that I actually enjoyed and it was a short read.

Mary Balogh writes a complete Christmas novel to celebrate the beauty of family gatherings during the holiday. Sometimes individuals can be worlds apart, but traditions can bring people together. Family activities included trimming the house, sledding, and hosting a snowball fight.

Time Period: Regency, 1800's
Location: England
