Undone by the Ex-Con by Talia Hibbert

I had a hard time getting into this book which is strange since I normally love Talia Hibbert. I think part of it was that the two main characters spend most of the book apart. They meet 3 or 4 times and somehow they're in love.

Hellooo this whole series has been so enjoyable, you can definitely see where Hibbert's writing grew over time and led us to the Brown sisters novels! Yeah, this is over the top with an exotic location in the Swiss alps, wealthy characters, and wild situations, but it's fun! All of Talia's books involve the man being absolutely BROUGHT TO HIS KNEES by the Heroine and I'm here for it. I really loved that both Isaac and Lizzie are flawed characters that seem like unlovable people at the beginning but they're perfect for each other somehow. Lizzie's struggle to accept herself and her body's limitations after her diabetes diagnosis was also very relatable to me and I love to see it in a book. Basically Talia Hibbert can write no wrong and I'm planning to continue through her back catalog!

undone by the ex-con (cracking title, i must admit) is very much an insta-love story in which you don't (or at least, i didn't) understand why the main characters like each other.
he proposes after literally two weeks of dating with
a blog post about what love is which
- apart from the accelerated timeline -
i thought was presumptuous since love doesn't look the same for everyone.

after meeting keynes again in this book, i'm thinking about rereading "Work For It" to end the "Just For Him" series with a good memory. even though i liked "The Fake Boyfriend Fiasco", i think this is talia hibbert's weakest series. to be fair,  she seems to be aware of the problems. "Bad for the Boss" as well as "Undone by the Ex-Con" are not available anymore because "they no longer feel appropriate to the author I’ve become", she says on her website.

I could not connect with the characters at first. While I eventually liked them, it took me too long.

Nice complexity and sweetness. Includes lying which makes me uncomfortable but it was ok in the end.
