I loved this very short book that tells of a Nigerian woman's experience as a feminist in her country.

I think it was interesting to read an essay on feminism from Adichie’s POV. She is a Nigerian woman and this her commentary was mostly on Nigerian culture. I do think her views of gender are outdated as there are not only two genders and some discussion of non heteronormative relationships should have been included. However I understand that she grew up and is writing from a different perspective than mine (American). Overall I thought it was a good piece though I don’t think I would recommend it to any of my friends as I believe there are better reflections on feminism that are more inclusive. I am curious to read one of her novels.

Loved. every. single. second. of. this. short. amazing. book.

So many good points made and in such a short span of time. Of course, it needs to be explored in depth more in other writing but I believe this was an extremely powerful speech, highlighting both her experience at home and abroad.
