I wanted to love this sequel as much as I did the first but I couldn’t see the chemistry between Milo and Jasper as well I had with Conrad and Alden. I thought this was a cute summer read and I’ll probably read more of Albert books, especially if she writes more in this series (maybe a story for the professors or April?). I wasn’t the biggest fan of the second half of the book though, because there seemed to be a huge emphasis on needing to come out to have your gay relationship be significant and that felt triggering to me but I guess to each their own.

I LOVED the two MCs even though one of the narrator's voices was a bit annoying. The story was sweet and I liked how it ended. Except for 1 part of the ending, I loved it! The MCs were relatable and I liked getting to know all the other character's better after the first book.

Annabeth Albert has a talent for writing slice of life stories that never veer too far into being too melodramatic or too boring.

Both Milo and Jasper are interesting on their own, but separately they make a dynamic pair. The chemistry between them was incredible and really sells the book. As well as the appreciation for fandom and cosplay culture, they were done well.

The reason this is only three stars is that I wasn't as invested in the plot. You could skim half of the book and wouldn't miss a thing. I took a little issue with the characterization. Jasper's character was so judgemental but also too nice. Milo's story was interesting, but I wanted more from his motivations.
In the beginning, almost any time Milo had an interest in anything other than sports Jasper would have a snarky reply throwing his past in his face. Yes, Milo was a jerk - which he openly admits to - but Jasper came off way more jerk-like than the so called bully.

In short, this book is a handful of incredibly sweet moments with a good message in an underwhelming plot and slightly confusing character structure.

UgghGhhghhgh, so frustrating!

Conventionally yours was one of my fave books of the year when I read it. This one was a huge let down for me.

Everything I liked about the first book was missing from this one: fun road trip, believable and likable romance, fun ensemble cast.

I did enjoy the writing, and I was mostly entertained throughout, but I did end up missing the cast of characters from the Conventionally Yours too much to not compare.

Not the worst, not the best, may have enjoyed more if I hadn’t loved the first book sooooo much. (you don’t need to read the first book to read this one)

This was a very sweet and quick romance book to read. A lighthearted novel for when you need something cute to distress.
