Picked this up to read after a second grader returned it. Very clever, cute book about a baby smart beyond its "days". The illustrations are such a juxtaposition that they're hilarious. I also liked the way family ultimately is the most important factor.

Baby Brains by Simon James is a book about the Brains family and their baby. Mrs. Brains reads to and listens to music with her baby every night while he is still in her tummy, and when he is born, he is able to do things like fix the family car and work as a doctor in the local hospital. It seems there is nothing Baby Brains can’t do. Read this and other books in the Baby Brains series!

This book was absolutely a waste of time. The message is about how parents are always having "genius" babies, and how there is always a push for smarter kids at a younger age.

The theme is way over a child's head, which makes the story incredibly boring. I have no clue why it's in the read aloud handbook.
