I am reading this series side by side to the Nancy Drew Series :)

This book was really sweet, every page was filled with warmth for family, friends & love :)

There was still some confusion in some places, but i still want to take a chance in this series :)

Kind of hated Katie for the first half of the story.
Also hated how he basically tells her he loves her, and what she focuses on is the physical stuff that happens...

I was immediate drawn into this book. I did the peek inside on amazon and had to buy it. The characters were well thought out and meshed well together. Jason is very laid back and calm and Katie is all about energy.
Jason was Katie's best friend growing up. Her boyfriend and Jason's other best friend died when they were almost 18. Katie is harboring huge amounts of guilt over that day. Jason has always loved Katie and wanted her for himself. Katie left after her boyfriends death and has never returned. She is coming back for Sophie's wedding as MOH and Jason is the BM. Old loves are un covered as the wedding weekend commences..Can they overcome their past to have a future?

I will be reading the next in the series...

I enjoyed the idea of the story: best friends realizing they love each other and doing something about it, however I felt the writing was super repetitive and very slow.

My First- Jason and Katie: Jason Sloan is the Romeo of Harper’s Crossing with his charm and sexy half smile that makes any women melt, but the one women he wants to melt for him. Katie Lawson Left Harper’s Crossing in the dead of night, after a tragic accident kills her boyfriend and Jason best friend. She left behind the memories of Nick but she also left behind Jason who was her life-long best friend. Now years later she is on the fast track to make partner at a law firm, with the goal in life to keep herself so busy to think about anything other than work. That rule work for a long time until she goes home to be the Maid of Honor in Nick’s Little sister’s wedding. Will she faces the truth of what or who she is running from? What will be waiting for her when she goes home?

I love Jason and Katie, they have been in love with each other for a long time, things happen and they never got a real chance at being together. Now that Katie is back, Jason will stop at nothing to win her over. I love how that we get to see flashbacks of her and Jason growing up and just how much Jason loved her and her him. I like how that it’s not all hearts and flowers, Katie has to deal with a big dose of reality from her past that leaves her with a bitter taste in her mouth, which made me like really like Melanie Shawn for writing a somewhat heartbreaking story. Jason is a real man and is not afraid to show that he loves her, He was willing to buy tampons. As much as the story was sad in parts it was so funny in others, Jason and Katie’s banter, will keep you laughing. Other than Jason and Katie all the Characters are great bring the story to the next level. Grandpa J for sure, he is a loveable old man, who helps out with his wise words of wisdom. The writing was great, quick easy and sweet. If you’re looking for something sweet, relatable and somewhat sad really read this.

I have been reading through Melanie Shawn's books recently and have been enjoying them. I decided to give My First a try and at first it was just okay. Really I did not find this story as good as her other books, as good as the Hope Falls books, but there were parts that I did like.

Katie hasn't been home for ten years. Ever since her high school boyfriend died she has been making a life for herself elsewhere. When she has to come back to her hometown for a friends wedding she is dreading seeing Jason. Jason her friend who she just left without saying goodbye to. Jason who was her ex's best friend as well. Jason who something happened the night she ran away that made her run.

Jason has always loved Katie. He might not have known it at first, but from the moment he lays eyes on her he is done. That is the part of the story I loved. It was so cute! He meets Katie his first day of kindergarten! Adorable. As the story goes along you get to see all the great things he does for Katie growing up that she didn't even realize.

Katie is irrationally angry with Jason for a lot of the book. She feels guilty for liking him, even though it has been ten years! Ten years since her ex died, ten years since she has seen him, ten years when everyone else has moved on but she has not yet. She still hasn't fully dealt with his death and everything that happened. She is a bit...I didn't really like her. I liked Jason a lot as he is such a great guy, but Katie was just...I don't know why Jason would stick around and try so hard to be with her. They do have this energy between them. They can't quite stay away, and Jason is so sweet. He tries to take it slow, to not push Katie as he doesn't want her to run again. It was an alright story with some really cute parts. The writing just wasn't as good as I was expecting for this author. Really if I hadn't read her other books I probably wouldn't search out more of her works based on this one.
