The characters were the stars of this book and the driving force of my enjoyment! I liked the multiple POV chapters following different characters throughout the story. Eventually the characters connection to the main story came together and the twist pertaining to one of the characters I honestly didn't see it coming! After the twist was revealed it was interesting to follow that character & see how their mindset drove them to do what they were doing.
Another thing I enjoyed reading about was how the justice or injustice drive people to do certain things they would never do or think of doing. How even the justice still never comes to some people, it still confuses me how certain influential people can get away with crimes just because they know a person or how the right amount of money to get them out of it. It really made you sympathize with the main character who had lost her husband and daughter in a horrific way. She just wanted justice that she felt was denied her.
A good thriller to throw into my rotation of trying out more thrillers and mysteries. I thought this was a nice quick read and would be interested in reading more of the author's books.

Kill for Me, Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh
A mysterious adult psychological and suspense-filled crime thriller about two ordinary women with a tragic past who agree to help each other take revenge for crimes that haunt them daily and have pushed them to the brink of despair.
Two women meet by chance at an anonymous support group for people who have been or are closely affected by a brutal attack. Over drinks, Amanda and Wendy find that their past is similar and begin a friendship bonding over their pain and loneliness since their lives were forever altered by an evil heartless killer. They both have an intense desire for revenge against the men who destroyed their families and in turn broke them as well. One night, when Amanda realizes that Wendy has the same desire to take justice into her own hands as Amanda was plotting to do, they come up with the perfect if you kill for me, Iβll kill for you.
In a different area of NYC, Ruth is home alone in the brownstone she shares with her husband, Scott, who is out for the night. She hears a breaking sound thinking her husband dropped something when she discovers that her home is being invaded. Sheβs brutally attacked by a stranger and left for dead. A man with piercing blue eyes, who disappears into the night, and his face is forever etched in her mind. Knowing that the blue-eyed stranger is still out there, she cannot return to her home in fear that he will return and finish the job, and she refuses to leave the hotel room she and her husband are staying at too scared that he will come for her.
How are these 3 women's stories linked in this nail-biting thriller of psychotic men still lurking in the world living their lives like they have never killed anyone? This story will keep your heart racing until the very end when things all start to become clear and the killers come out of hiding to try and finish what they started.
This was chosen as a thriller book club pick this month on Instagram hosted by Aimee @readalongwithaimee and was a HUGE hit with the group.
There isn't any spice in this story, but it talks about kidnapping and murder of children, suicide, brutal attacks on women, mental health, stalking, and psychological trauma. This was a fantastic book and enjoyed it immensely. πππ

βIt takes a lot to kill someone. Human beings in crisis cannot think straight; their instinct to preserve life gets sidelined in the sea of their desperation. In the absence of a psychological disorder or crisis or the impairment to rational thinking brought about by drugs or alcohol, it is very hard to kill another living, breathing member of the human race.β
It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Steve Cavanagh's writing, and I've been waiting impatiently for his newest book to be finally published outside the UK. I loved the sound of the premise of Kill For You, Kill For Me, although I confess I added it to my wishlist even before I learned what it was going to be about... His writing hasn't disappointed me yet, and Kill For Me, Kill For You turned out to be another absolutely fantastic and deviously clever read. This is one of those books where it's best to go in blind in order to feel the full impact of the plot twists... Trust me, you will most likely be picking up your jaw from the floor more than once before reaching that final page. His writing is always engaging, and I was already enjoying the ride from the beginning... But once the first major plot twist bomb dropped, I started to see just how clever and intricate this plot was. My mind is still in awe of what I have just read, and I have no doubt that this book will appear on my list of 2024 favorites. I particularly loved the Strangers On A Train vibe; not a copy of the classic, but rather an ingenious adaptation that will mislead you more than once. The story uses a multiple POV structure, which was perfect for the plot and helped creating maximum impact for certain twists. If you like your thrillers on the dark, twisted and engaging side, I can highly recommend Kill For Me, Kill For You!
