Highly recommend to anyone with a female level 1 Autist in their life. Has given me so much perspective. Kim’s writing is accessible and vulnerable and the book is well structured.

I am still wrapping my head around what autism is exactly and this book helped me understand more about some key characteristics and how they show up in myself and others. I learned about sensory seeking (which is why I like crunchy things), sketching emotional constellations (learning where and how emotions show up in my body and how to differentiate between the different layers of them and also which are my own and which I am absorbing from my environment - then figuring out how I want to respond), the difference between procrastination and a deficit in executive functioning (why we avoid certain tasks and how to support ourselves better), and meltdowns and withdrawals/shutdowns (how to recognize the signs and ask for support).

it was good, I had to read it for therapy but like I am also simultaneously glad I did cause it was very articulate and confusing. also i appreciate the nuanced humour despite it being non fiction
Update - it's still good
