If we're going to be negative (see CG & the Dinosaur), we feel the need to post about our favorite George book. Nolan says "all of them" but Sean and I agree that Curious George at the Beach is our favorite.

We love his curiosity about the life guard's chair and whistle, the sneaky way the seagulls get some (or all) of their lunch, and how his antics lead a friend to overcome her fear of the water. Sweet book and great illustrations.

Curious George books were always a favorite of my children when they were young.  So much fun reading about the monkey who gets into trouble or mischief without even trying. Love Curious George's adventure into the Chocolate Factory.

"He saved our chocolates!"

No he didn't. He contaminated your factory chocolates with his monkey fur. Don't you dare think about selling those! He also screwed up your machine, making it go haywire in the first place!

This just in: Area mother does not have much of a sense of humor when it comes to ruined chocolate.

I did think this was going to be an original Curious George book, but the original was written in 1939, so 60 years later they will not still be writing. This is written by Martha Weston in their style. It does fit in with the original books very well.

The story is simple, George and the Man in the Yellow hat go to a Costume party with no costumes and the lady of the house let’s George borrow a costume. George gets into a mess and causes a stir at the party that is pretty exciting. Then Happy Halloween.

It was a cute little story and the kids really enjoyed George sliding down the banister. They laughed. They gave this 4 stars, so the story still works for children.

Did I casually read this while shelving books in the empty children's section at the library this afternoon? YES.

And then did I realize that it was not empty and someone was sitting behind me the entire time? ALSO YES.

But it's chill. I'm pretty sure she was looking at her phone the entire time it took me to read the book (approx. 3 minutes or less). Also if I want to read a picture book that's my prerogative!!! (Actually it's not since I wasn't on break, but shhhhh.)
