This is my favourite of King's book's so far. A bit slow in the beginning but took on pretty fast.

“And all around them, the bestiality of the night rises on tenebrous wings. The vampire’s time has come.”

Nothing says I love you more than your boyfriend buying you a copy of this book because he knew you'd love it, and you know what? I did. I absolutely loved it

As a lover of all things King I'm embarrassed to admit this was my very first time reading Salem's lot. I have to say it was everything I expected and so much more! Vampires always brought a kind of "eternally beautiful" "sensual" "lustful" image to mind especially as most adaptations described their vampires are statuesque beauties however this really truly confirmed why Vampires definitely DO belong in the category of monsters. The suspense, the fear, the intensity felt by those slowly made aware of the grisly, dark goings on in 'salem's lot, the ending may not have been cheerful but I personally felt it was very satisfying.

This could have been a lot better. It started okay, nothing really outstanding but I was invested in the story. The main problem is that it's just too long, my copy is over 500 pages. The book wastes plenty of time in uninteresting things that don't matter, including detailed descriptions of what people were having for lunch.

When I was around two thirds in I was completely done with the book and only wanted for it to end. The only character I has a semblance of investment in was Mark, but I'm sure I'll forget his name in no time. There are definitely better Stephen King books out there.
