I did not enjoy this book at all. I am very put off by forces sexual things and there was a lot of that in this book. I don’t feel like the description prepares you for this book. Also it was not super well written, the characters seemed to have some internal struggle but it was hard to follow due to the poor writing. Felt like the author was more focused on the sexual torment than the actual characters.

I picked this up at HPB on a whim, expecting a taboo erotic retelling of a popular romance fantasy. Big mistake! If I’d done 2 seconds of research I’d have known its dark erotic content is almost entirely sadistic, and would not have picked it up. I was desperately hoping for the book to ease the burden with some levity or tenderness, but no. Just relentless sexual violence and I had to quit. Feels gross. Hard pass for me, dawg.

I picked this up solely because of the raging low reviews and claims there was spanking almost every page. They weren’t kidding. Read this if you want to want to see the word “buttocks” more times than you ever have in your life. 

I didn’t find any of the characters compelling and was just waiting to reach the end.

Firstly, the writing style of this is very dated. That I could probably get past if it wasn’t for the flagrant r*pe that happens just a few pages into the book. Listen, I’m a dark romance enjoyer and love dub/non-con. However this was just straight up assault. DNF!
