Beautiful ending to a beautiful story. I love her writing style so much, and the occasional use of Arabic words. Representation means everything. I even cried, but only at the acknowledgments. Definitely read the last sentence of that

This book DRAGGED on, and on, and on. It was repetitive and predictable.

I loved this book so much, it’s definitely one of my favorites! I’m so sad that it’s over though. This will definitely be a book that I keep thinking about for a long time.

Does this story needed 114 chapters to be explored? YES. And I would read 140 more if Hafsa Faizal decides to write them. I literally have no words for the way this book made me feel, but I experienced a full range with every single word. Im felling deep sorrow about the fact that is done and Im sure this book is getting in a re read schedule.

This is a 3.5 star book if I've ever read one.

It wasn't "bad" it just wasn't the epic conclusion I was hoping for. Honestly it was a nice, albeit long winded, wrap up. All my questions got answered and everything came to a firm resolution.

I was a bit bored with the middle 1/3 of this book and I was ready to find out how it was all going to end. I loved the found family vibes and everyone coming together in this book. Zafira made some questionable decisions throughout the book that annoyed me but thank goodness for the other characters.

I think Altair and Kifa need a spin off bc Altair ended up being my favorite character out of all this. His character development and growth was amazing and I would love to see more about him.

  • You already know Nasir’s worried about Altair. Bout time. (“He wouldn’t kill him, he’s his brother”).
  • I wanna know how Zafira will eventually de-attach herself from the Jarawat. Girl be glued.
  • The Lion of the Night is a dick and I want him to just stop. I feel so bad for Altair right now, he thinks they don’t care but they do my guy, they’re coming.
  • I don’t like Anadil. Jinan seems cool but she did just leave them for money so. Aya and Seif are annoying. Seif just sucks. Dude can go somewhere else preferably.
  • Altair got his own little operation going on. Of course he does, he’s great. And now I remember Benyamin and I’m sad again.
  • I’m happy Nasir finally realised he cares about Altair. Bout time boy.
  • I want to know how Zafira is going to get rid of this bond she has with the book. Seems pretty permanent.
  • I didn’t really care that Umm died since we didn’t see a lot of her but poor Zafira, girl can’t catch a break. Lana seems sweet.
  • Nasir probably feels hella guilty right now. I just want his father dead.

  • Okay, I put this down and then just, didn’t pick it up again. And, realistically, I don’t think I will anytime soon. Unless I’m suddenly in the mood. I just don’t really care.
  • The books themselves are really good, and the writing style is great, I just don’t feel any need/want to pick this one up again.

I enjoyed this one more than the first book.
When they said it's a slow burn they really meant SLOW

Okay, I had an hour left in the audiobook, but I have no compelling reason to finish it. Again, Altair was pretty rad, but Katniss Everdeen--sorry--Zafira sucks as a protagonist. A+++ for asexual representation from Kefira though. My new fav from this story.
